Champagne André Clouet Silver could be compared to the sensation of gliding through powdery snow, dry, fresh, pure and light. As we wet our lips, delicate foam begins to coat our mouths, our tongues sail through a subtle effervescence as an avalanche of flavours hits our taste buds.
This is a sparkling wine made from pinot noir grapes harvested late to ensure a perfect balance. The lack of added sugar allows the character of the chalky, clayey soil to emerge clearly in the glass and the 35% reserve wine explains its complexity. If we consider, for example, the batch bottled in spring 2015, 65% of the cuvée came from the 2014 vintage, 10% from 2013, 20% from 2012 and 5% from 2010.
After 48 months on the lees, the bottles are disgorged on request, after careful evaluation of each batch. Disgorgement and dosage are carried out according to the wine, its specific attributes, evolution, season and final destination, thus ensuring a perfect sensory experience in each bottle ofChampagne André Clouet Silver. Bottling takes place without the addition of sugar and with a permeable capsule that allows a slight exchange of oxygen to create the desired evolution of the wine.
The Clouet family is a family of winegrowers whose origins, as they say, "are lost in the mists of time." Its founder was a printer at the Versailles court of Louis XV and for generations their descendants continued this work. The unique 'Ancien Regime' style on the labels is a tribute to the founder of the house. It took more than two centuries and generations of Clouets to obtain vineyard plots in the Bouzy area in the southern part of the Montagne de Reims. The 9 hectares are classified as 100% Grand Cru. Only 17 communes out of 300 have the benefit of Grand Cru status and Bouzy is one of them. Here the Pinot Noir is lovingly cared for and brought to perfect maturity.
