Edmond Thery, a renowned French economist with a passion for champagne, establishes his winery in the picturesque Rognac, in the renowned region of Bouches du Rhône. Innovative from the outset, he decides to create his cellars at a depth of 10 meters, a revolutionary idea that would become a unique model in Provence. Thus, LA TETE NOIRE is born.
In the 1930s, the company distinguishes itself by producing base wines for prestigious champagne houses until the mid-decade, before the strict delimitation of production areas. Subsequently, the company's strategy shifts towards personalized service, with the production of custom sparkling wines.
In 1988, Rivarose expands with the construction of a second production site in Salon de Provence, named Auran. Here, new production techniques are adopted, such as the Méthode Charmat and carbonation, as well as the development of flavored and alcohol-free sparkling wines, to meet the needs of the evolving market.
1998 marks a turning point for Rivarose, with its entry into the acclaimed Famille Piffaut Vins et domaines group. Thanks to new technical and human resources, the company achieves new standards of quality.
To further consolidate its position, the production from Rognac and Salon de Provence is consolidated into a single modern site in Salon de Provence, while the company takes on the name Rivarose. This merger leads to a significant expansion of storage and production capacities, positioning Rivarose at the forefront of the sparkling wine industry.
