Le Clos des Enfants Sauvages is an extremely fascinating wine from organic farming with no added sulphites, where you really get a good Rhone wine at an affordable price.

In fact, despite its modest price, the wine made it onto Andreas Larson’s (the world’s best sommelier in 2007) TOP-100 list of wines tasted in 2021.

The wine comes from the gravelly, limestone-rich soils of Château Saint-Cyrgues, in the Costières de Nîmes, in the southern Rhône, where both the Mediterranean Sea and the Mistral wind, with its cooling effect, have a great influence on the grapes, allowing them to retain their freshness.

After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and the wine ferments at 22 degrees for 10-15 days. In the meantime, a gentle extraction is carried out before the wine is finally aged for 6 months in neutral casks and 2 months in the bottle.

Le Clos des Enfants is characterised by its dark red colour and gratifying, inviting aromas of blueberries, flowers, cherries, olives and spicy nuances.

Round and charming, it flows velvety on the tongue, while the soft, well-oiled tannins caress the palate and create a beautiful balance.

Le Clos des Enfants is a very crowd-pleasing Rhône wine that drinks well now, but can easily be stored 2-3 years after harvest.

Château Saint-Cyrgues
The southern vineyard of Château Saint Cyrgues is located near Nîmes, in Saint-Gilles. This place, rich in history, was on the route of many pilgrims on their way to Compostela or Jerusalem. It is located right on the site of the church of Saint Cirice des Marges. Vines have always been cultivated here and the wines from this vineyard have won several awards. Vines from 1971 stand alongside those planted in 2014. Each generation contributes to the identity of Château Saint Cyrgues, giving it balance and consistency. The estate may be over a hundred years old, but it is still in step with the times as it is now organically farmed. The Château Saint Cyrgues estate is located in the south of France, near Nîmes. It overlooks the Petite Camargue, one of the most beautiful areas of France, and the Mediterranean Sea. The estate's southern exposure ensures that the grapes ripen well, which gives the wine its robust and fine character. Its geographical location makes it the southernmost vineyard in the Rhone Valley. The Château Saint Cyrgues estate is located in the centre of the long Costières terrace (west-east), from Vauvert to Saint-Gilles. This south-facing terrace, whose altitude varies from 60 to 80 metres, is composed of pebbles and clay soils and is part of the southern Rhône Valley. The estate has three appellations: 'Costière de Nîmes', 'Vin de pays du Gard' and 'Vin de la vallée du Rhône'. Our grape varieties are : Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Merlot, Marselan, Petit Verdot, Roussanne, Grenache blanc, Viognier, Muscat and Vermentino. The terroir of rounded pebbles gives our wine texture, elegance and finesse. A careful blend of traditional grape varieties expresses fruitiness and roundness with great softness. To preserve our fragile natural heritage and ensure the sustainability of our cultivation methods, Château Saint Cyrgues applies the philosophy of 'organic farming'.
