Château Les Moutins is located on the right bank of the Garonne. It has been family-owned since 1852 and boasts 60 hectares of vineyards, most of which are over 20 years old. The clay, limestone and chalk soils are the key to the wine’s freshness and expressive aromas of ripe plums, redcurrants and rose petals. Merlot is the main grape on this side of the river, which explains the wine’s voluptuous and velvety style. Also, of course, the vintage that has been called ‘excellent from all points of view’ by RobertParker.com, ‘an excellent vintage’ by Neal Martin, Vinous, and ‘A beautiful, incredibly high quality vintage for Bordeaux’ by critic Jeb Dunnock. Expect plenty of ripe, soft fruit in this attractive claret. Open early if you can.
