Domaine des Trottières, an exceptional terroir in the heart of the Loire Valley.
Founded in 1890, Domaine des Trottières is one of the jewels in the crown of Anjou and the Layon Valley. With 115 hectares of vineyards, all classified as AOC, it produces 9 AOC wines: Anjou Blanc, Coteaux du Layon, Bonnezeaux, Crémant de Loire, Rosé de Loire, Rosé d’Anjou, Cabernet d’Anjou, Anjou Rouge and Anjou-Villages.

Recognised expertise, respect for tradition and continuous recognition, combined with the quality of the terroir, are expressed in authentic wines of great finesse.

Owned by the Lamotte family since 1985, this very old wine estate, long managed by the Gourdon family, was mainly cultivated with Chenin grapes before the arrival of phylloxera, which destroyed almost all European vineyards at the end of the 19th century. Most of the production was devoted to white wines.

The renewal of the vineyards, made compulsory by the planting of certified grafted seedlings, was an opportunity to diversify the grape varieties: Gamay, Grolleau and Pineau d’Aunis made their appearance, which were to become the basis for rosés (Rosé de Loire (dry), Rosé d’Anjou). More recently, the emphasis has been on planting Cabernet varieties.

The oldest wine cellar, built around 1920, was particularly efficient, with glass vats and a system of transporting the harvest by lifts powered by a huge 1-piston engine.
