Obtained exclusively from Sauvignon grapes: a French vine cultivated in the Sauterne region, in the Bordeaux area, introduced into the Goriziano area in the mid-19th century, where it “achieved results superior to those hitherto achieved with all other white grape varieties,” said Giovani Bolle in 1891, “in the most fertile, deepest and somewhat clayey soils of the hills, Sauvignon reveals itself with robust vegetation and a constant, regular production. A local company brought it to the Wine Fair in Trieste as early as 1888. Isidoro and Robert Princic have had it since 1978 and have kept the same types of Sauvignon, even with the latest plantings dating back to 1985. ‘Characteristic of our Sauvignon are the aromas, not overly intense, but very fine and elegant,’ they are keen to emphasise.

The vineyards from which this wine originates are Budignacco, Zavognza, Dragica and Ruttars , at altitudes ranging from 100 to 180 metres above sea level. Vinification Obtained by soft pressing of grapes macerated for 24-48 hours at low temperatures. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperatures. This is followed by storage ‘sur lie’ until bottling. Colour Pale straw yellow brilliant Nose The nose is dominated by white flowers with notes of lychee, followed by sage, green tomato and a touch of bay leaf and spring flowers. Complex in bouquet, but without ever overdoing it. Palate In the mouth it is very fresh, with considerable volume in the centre of the mouth. The juiciness of the fruit emerges in the finish, balanced by a mineral touch. Serving temperature Serve not too cool, around 8 – 10 °C. Food pairing Wine for hors d’oeuvres, ham dishes, non-meat risottos, vegetable soufflés and fish and egg dishes.

Gradis'ciutta
Gradis'ciutta was born when Robert Princic, having finished his studies in Oenology and Viticulture in Conegliano, decided at the age of 20 in 1997 to give a name to the work on the land that his family had carried on for generations. First his grandfather, then his father, had bought some land to produce grapes that they then sold to third parties: the turning point came when Robert decided to create his own brand to tell of his passion for the land and wine. The name chosen by Robert, Gradis'ciutta, is taken from the name of the locality in the heart of Collio that has been generous with excellent grapes for centuries and is closely linked to the history of his family: a clear declaration of attachment to the land, family identity and passion for wine-growing. All these characteristics bind together in a double knot and are the basis of all the company's activities. Today, thanks to the work of the entire family, "Gradis'ciutta" has grown to 25 hectares under vine, out of a total of 35, in the municipalities of San Floriano del Collio, Gorizia, Capriva del Friuli and Dolegna del Collio. This choice is not random; on the contrary, given the peculiarities of the territory, it is based on the desire to fully express the characteristics of Collio and its hills. Constantly supported by his tireless parents, Robert has grown the business, obtaining awards for his wines and personal recognition, without ever forgetting the right balance in the relationship between man and nature. A philosophy that is reflected in the character of the wines and in his approach to others. The current headquarters of Gradis'ciutta is in Giasbana, a locality in San Floriano del Collio, where a winery has been built that represents the culmination of many years of work.
