The origins of this grape variety are uncertain. Some believe they are in Alsace, others in the village of Tramin (Bolzano), others in Wurttemberg, and finally in the Rhine valley. The name Traminer – Termeno in Italian – first appears in 1349 in the ‘Book of Nature’ by Konrad Megenberg, dean of the cathedral of Regenburg, an ancient Franconian town in Germany.
