Bayle Carreau
The cultivation of the first vines in the vineyard began in Roman times. This extraordinary 17th-century historical residence offers a breathtaking panoramic view over the Gironde thanks to its belvedere. The Bayle-Carreau family became owners in the 20th century, extended the vineyard and completely restored the château.
Located on the right bank of the Gironde, the first vines in this Côtes de Bourg vineyard were planted by the Romans. A prestigious 17th-century residence, Château Eyquem served as the summer residence for Louis d’Eyquem, a member of the family of the famous philosopher Michel Eyquem de Montaigne.
At the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, this château dominates the Gironde estuary with an incredible belvedere. Its clay-limestone soil with a silty tendency benefits from a microclimate due to the proximity of the rivers.
