Casa Aurora
This project by German Blanco in Bierzo is a direct homage to his great-grandmother AURORA GARCIA -La Señora Aurora-, and indirectly to his village, VILLA DE ALBARES in the Bierzo Alto and its people. The genesis is based on the rescue and recovery of old vineyards and ways of working. It is to avoid the oblivion of people and places, farmers, winegrowers and villagers. It is bottling landscapes and stories every year. Bottles that speak and tell stories. Ways of doing and living. Doing things the way they used to be with the things we know today. Each vintage is a battle won against oblivion and mountains.
At Casa Aurora they produce their wines naturally. They do not use herbicides, systemic herbicides, fertilisers or pesticides. Infusions of horsetail, buttermilk or sulphur are the treatments they use in the management of their plots.
They recover old abandoned vineyards that usually have a minimum of 25 per cent white grapes, the rest being red.
