Domaine des Louis
The northern Côtes du Rhone region is home to the Crozes Hermitage appellation (about 1500 hectares), and produces about eleven times as many bottles of Hermitage. The appellation is developed around the Hermitage hill, on clay-limestone soil and much less steep hills. In a dozen or so communes on the left bank of the Rhône River, Syrah, which produces a delicate red wine and accounts for more than 90% of AOC production, is cultivated; Marsanne and Roussanne, white wines that offer a complex and refined blend. Julien Devreton leads La Domaine Des Luis, founded in the early 1900s by great-grandparents both named ‘Louis’, and is the third generation of winegrowers.
Meticulous care of the vineyard for high quality wines
The small plots are worked extremely meticulously. Five and a half hectares of land, most of which are old vines. In 2019, 8,000 bottles were produced, of red and white, the winery’s goal is to reach a maximum production of 30,000 bottles, in organic conversion from this year. The dedication and passion that is devoted to the land and the vineyards can be found in the cuvées of Crozes Hermitage Domaine Des Luis.
