Eric Rodez
The Rodez family has been linked to the land of Champagne for almost three centuries and, in particular, to the terroir of Ambonnay and its charming village, whose narrow streets are lined with the walls of wineries. Eric Rodez and his wife Martine have for several years cultivated 6 hectares of vines according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture and have since passed the baton on to their son Mickael, who represents the ninth generation.
The Eric Rodez House: a lifetime of passion for 9 generations
The Rodez family comes from a long lineage of winegrowers where each generation has contributed to chiselling the sumptuous terroir in which they have settled, so that it expresses all its richness. Today, the Ambonnay vineyard comprises 6 hectares, 4 of Pinot Noir and 2 of Chardonnay. Respect for and full development of the vines have always been a daily concern for them, which is why Eric Rodez committed his Domaine to converting to organic and biodynamic farming in 2009. In 2012, the farm was awarded the ‘High Environmental Value’ certification. The philosophy of the Maison Rodez is thus guided by the common sense of this winegrower who allows for a beautiful maintenance of biodiversity, which ultimately offers Champagnes that provide pleasure and enjoyment.
The Maison Eric Rodez: exceptional savoir-faire
As in the past, Maison Eric Rodez continues to follow a credo, that of vinifying a major part of its Champagnes in oak barrels. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay obtain generosity and finesse respectively. Some wines do not undergo malolactic fermentation, which allows them to age longer in the cellar after blending and enhances their qualities. These methods help shape complex and highly refined Champagnes.
Maison Eric Rodez’s signature cuvées
The cuvée Blanc de blancs Grand Cru is a blend of more than 15 wines from 5-6 different vintages. Generous and harmoniously fruity, it offers a subtle freshness that makes it the perfect aperitif companion.
Let us mention the sumptuous Blanc de noirs Grand Cru, powerful and vinous where the Pinot Noir expresses all its fullness. Composed of 7 different vintages, this is a beautifully balanced Champagne that will complement all types of meals.
The Cuvée des Crayères is, so to speak, unmissable, proving structured and very elegant. Its constant freshness and floral touches make it suitable for pairing with delicate dishes.
The Cuvée des Grands Vintages is made from the best vintages, the cream of the crop, which are vinified entirely in wood. Elements that make it a full, elegant wine with a unique Champagne richness.
Whatever the occasion, Maison Eric Rodez will have something to satisfy every need, thanks to splendid cuvées in which the imprint of passion can be found in the glass.
