Gaspard Brochet
In 2014, Gaspard Brochet officially joined the family business founded by his grandfather Henri more than 70 years earlier. Flanked by his father Vincent, with almost 40 vintages under his belt, Gaspard takes up this important legacy by adding his own dose of creativity and sensitivity. In addition to redefining the entire corporate image of the family brand “Champagne Vincent Brochet” Gaspard chose to lay the foundations for his own line characterised by a fresh and appealing aesthetic. In addition to the purely aesthetic part, Gaspard implements from the outset important choices regarding both agricultural management and the cellar part, all in the name of environmental sustainability and the enhancement of the biodiversity of the Ecueil terroir. The Brochets have a total of 5 hectares planted mainly with Pinot Noir (78%) and Chardonnay (18%) and a small part of Meunier (7%). The average age of the vines is around 30 years with prevailing south-eastern exposure. In the vineyard, no chemical or synthetic products are used, the soil is mechanically tilled and natural grassing is favoured. In the cellar, the use of a pneumatic press preserves the freshness and quality of the harvested grapes. Following this, fermentations are triggered naturally thanks to their own yeasts, and malo-lactic fermentations are interrupted to enhance the freshness of the cuvées. The same reasoning applies to dosages, which are minimal in order to ensure the optimal expressiveness of a great Pinot Noir and a great terroir.
