Thierry Massin
Champagne Thierry Massin was born in 1977 in Ville-sur-Arce, a village in the heart of the Côte des Bar characterised by the typical Kimméridgien and Portlandien soils, composed of clay and limestone.
We are therefore talking about a privileged terroir for the cultivation of vines, combining to perfection conditions of slight water stress favourable to the attainment of an optimal level of ripeness of the grapes. Pinot noir covers over 70% of the vineyard, 8% Pinot Meunier and 15% Chardonnay. A small but significant part (7%) is devoted to the cultivation of ancestral varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Arbanne, Fromenteau and Petit Meslier. The management of the vineyard follows the dictates of biodynamic viticulture and in the cellar every choice is geared towards limiting intervention or manipulation. Domaine Thierry Massin’s vin de reserve, the result of blending and long ageing in the cellar of several vintages, represents one of the distinctive elements of the Thierry Massin style. The range is developed through three strands. The first is the one called “Les Terres de L’Arce”, two cuvees that tell of the generosity and freshness of the Côte des Bar with expressive purity. This is followed by two special lines: the “Les Epicuriens” range designed to define the identity of the domaine through three personal cuvees and, finally, the “Ephemeres” range to make the image of each vintage unique.
