Vallerosa Bonci
In the heart of the Marche region and on one of the sunny, green hills that line the sides of the right bank of the Esino river rises Cupramontana, noble and ancient home of Verdicchio. It is here that the Bonci family has been producing and marketing wine for four generations. Domenico Bonci began in the early years of the last century, not only with his own production, but also with a careful selection of companies and their products conducted with the wisdom of the connoisseur, allocating with appreciable farsightedness the best lots to the numerous visitors from beyond the Alps, who showed their appreciation for the products of the land elaborated by fine craftsmanship.
From the districts of Cupramontana where Bonci cultivates his 26 hectares of vines, his great crus are born and take their names. The San Michele obtained from a vineyard located in contrada S. Michele, the oldest and most vocated for the production of Verdicchio. Viatorre derives from a vineyard located in contrada Torre, where the Bonci winery is also located; the medium-textured soil yields a fresh, floral wine. The Manciano from clayey soil with sand veins facing east, gives birth to this floral Cru with nuances of anise and sage. The Pietrone, a marvellous golden yellow, comes from vineyards in the district of the same name.
The Azienda Agricola Vallerosa Bonci currently owns 30 hectares of land, 26 of which are planted with specialised vineyards for the production of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico with controlled designation of origin. The vineyards are located at an average altitude of 450 metres above sea level in the most suitable areas of the Cupramontana territory, in the districts of San Michele, Torre, Alvareto and Pietrone. The particular microclimate, the careful selection of grapes, the many years of artisanal winemaking experience, now combined with the most modern winemaking systems, place the Azienda Vallerosa Bonci in a leading position in the wine and sparkling wine sector.
The grape harvest, the time of the harvest, rich in tradition, culture, work but also celebration. For the Azienda Vallerosa Bonci, it is still a moment made up of people, hands, voices, scents and not machines. The harvest is the fruit of work, waiting, gestures and care that are repeated over time. The processing of the grapes in all its phases of crushing, cleaning, filtering takes place with the best methods and the aid of new technologies, accompanied by the wise tradition and knowledge handed down from father to son. The passage of the grapes from the box to the press is still done manually so that the grapes arrive in the press whole, without being crushed. The art of making white wine lies in the ability to extract the full quality potential of the grapes.
